The Skytrain showed me the cleaner, bourgeois side of Bangkok. The transit system avoided the older, grittier parts of Bangkok in the west. Its passengers were invariably young, well-dressed, and armed with cellphones. The Skytrain spat me out onto Thanon Sukhumvit, Bangkok's Orchard Road or Bukit Bintang. Like the Sun Complex end of Bukit Bintang, Sukhumvit has a sleaze end too - Nana Entertainment Plaza, a three-floor cornocupia of go-go bars almost exclusively consisting of foreign men and Thai women.
