| PAS city is apparently a Pepsi
town. Blue billboards all over the place proudly proclaim Pepsi as the
first carbonated drink to be guaranteed halal in Malaysia. There’s
even a prevailing disbelief in the way coffee shops have to put up signs
stating "Coca-cola ada dijual di sini". Could this be why the
Council of Non-Governmental Organisations Alliance campaigned to selectively
boycott Coca-Cola in early 2003, but not Pepsi, in protest of America's
foreign relations? While the many pondoks around town segregate men and
women, nobody gives a hoot while indulging in the apparently state-sponsored
lepak culture. |
